"Gunaa"

COMMERCE ASSOCIATION 2006
-07

The official inaguration of the  Commerce Association of B.C.M  College , " Gunaa" was held on 10th July, 2006. Our Association got inagurated by Mr. Jenu Dev IAS who  have passed the Civil Service Examination in Flying colors and brought laurels to his home town Kottayam. 2006-2007 was earmarked as the Jubilee  year of the Commerce Association.  

The Commerce Association of B.C.M  College , " Gunaa" began its activites in June, 2006. This academic year the Teacher in Charge of our Association is Ms. Shyla G. Nair. The Association Secretary  is Ms. Parvathy M. The Joint Secrterary is Ms.Vibitha K.

We started our line of activities with an inspiring Talk on "Womens Rights" and Consumer Protection by Ms. Sethulakshmibai, Advocate. This discussion was enlightening and highly informative for us girls. It made us aware of the need to protect our dignity with the support of law.

Fresher's Day

We organised our Fresher's day on July 14th 2006, to officially welcome our Juniors. The III DC students gave a warm hearty welcome to our Juniors. We greeted them to the class clapping , distributing sweets and showering them with glitters. The program made the newcommers feel vey much at home. It was a day of high spirits and the seniors had an oppurtunity to interact with the new commers.    They were asked to perform on stage to show their talents and gifts. They performed confidently and beautifully.  
We had a song by Cicily Abraham of III DC to entertain the pack. We also had a variety of entertainment programs by IInd DC and IIIrd Dc students.

Class on Personal Hygiene

On 4th August, we had a perky and salutary Class on Personal Hygiene counducted  by Sr. Betsy of Family and  Community Science.  
She elaborately explained the significance of cleanliness of our mind and body which in turn is crucial for personal hygiene.

Seminars

A seminar was  counducted by Mr. Michael and Mr. Joseph, faculty members of Triumphant Institute of Management Education, Kottayam on how to obtain a Master degree in Business Administration and how to prepare for CAT exams. They also conducted an Aptitude test.

Onam Celeberations
Onam celeberations were held in the college on 18th August. The students of our association brought laurels to our department by participating in all the inter-department competitions and winning prizes for all of them. We also opened a stall for serving paayasm.

Personality Development Programme
On 10th October, the Association conduted a boisterous Personality Development Programme for the Ist D.C students. The class was counducted by  Mr. Sojin Sebastain, a faculty of i-twist Consultancy services. The topic for discussion was " A Person With A Difference, Always Makes A Difference ". The two hour workshop was extremely dynamic and fruitful as it helped the students to unveil the power of positive thinking and gain an outward focus.

Tour-de-Karnataka
The III DC Students had their grand "Tour-De-Karnataka" Tour from 10th to 14th  October 2006. The 4 day tour included places like Coorg, Ooty, Mysore and Coimbatore. The tour was beyond words simply superb.

Class on "Business cycles"
The topic an associaed topic of Principles of Business Ddecisions, taken by Prof. James of Baselius College, Kottayam.  Sir, with his ease and simple style explained the topic thoroughly. It was an interesting clas for us.

Kerala Day
This day was celeberated on November 10th. The students of our Association actively participated in all  the competitions and won prizes for Athapookalaam, Nostalgia and Attahasam.

Inter-Collegiate Competitions
Our students participated in the Commerce Colloquiy conducted by KG College Pampady. The vibrant and very talented students of our association won the overall everrolling trophy.
  
Ms. Bino Kurian III D.C and Ms. Sheena of II D.C won first prize   for vocal solo.  
Ms. Iona Kaeen,   Mary Varghese, and Bino Kurien of III D.C won  first Prize for Pantomime.

We  also  took part in " GITZ _ BLITZ", the commerce fest counducted at Saint Gits College Of Management, Pathamuttom. and   won  prizes.

Career Option Class On "Finance Management"  

Personals of H.D.F.C Bank took a class on the career option "Finance Management".   It provided a breakthrough in career guidence among the students.

Class on "Opportunities in UK for Commerce Students"

Representatives of the British Council, took a class for B.Com final year stuents, in January, providing information regarding "Opportunities in UK for Commerce Students".  It also povided details regarding the formalities to be compiled with, for studying  in U.K, the various outstanding Universities all over U.K, that provided the best courses, and so on.

Talk on CAT and MAT.

Mr. Jayan, a faculty of ICFAI, India conducted a talk on the oppurtunities for students after passing for CAT and Mat. He also gave details regarding the courses provided by ICFAI Institutes all over India.

SWASTIKA-06

The day that added the golden feather to thre crown of Commerce Department was on November 30th , 2006. The day when our department conducted, SWASTIKA-06, the state level seminar on career guidence and personality development, in the event of the Jubilee Year of our Commerce Association. Prof. Korulla Issac , Principal of C.M.S College Kottayam formally inagurated the Silver Jubilee Celebration - SWASTIKA- 06,  by lighting the lamp. Principal Sr.Dr. Karuna S.V.M presided the function. Students from Colleges all over Kerala attended the programme.

Seminars  On

  1. " The Importence of Goal Setting in one's life "
  2. " Career Opportunities in Management "  
We had two  sessions on that day. The first session was a seminar on "The Importence of Goal Setting in one's life"   The Personals from ICICI Prudential   took claases on the first topic in the morning session. They offfered opportunities to the post of Management Trainees  in their concern. We also had a talk and interactive session on various career options by Mr. Chacko, Lecturer of Marian College, Kuttikanam.
The  second session was on "Career Opportunities in Management" taken by Mr. Sojin   Sebastain of i-twist.
Towards the end of the seminar, certificates were distributed to participants from various colleges, by our HOD Ms. Ayshu Mani. We also presened gift vouchers to two best participants of the program which went to Ms.Sumina Susan and Arjun of Baselius College and Saint Gits College respectively.
